Files document effortto produce three special historical editions of The State commemorating South Carolina's Tricentennial, the U.S. Bicentennial, and the Centennial of the burning of Columbia during the Civil War; special edition, 1978, surveying South Carolina state government titled The South Carolina Digest: A Government Survey. Includes original and revised versions of manuscriptfor "The Case for the South"; correspondence with the publisher; and reaction letters from readers across the country; newspaper coverage, including book reviews, appear in both Journalism Records Series and in Clippings Files Series.
